VIOLIN - J.B. Accolay  Violin concerto No. 1 in A minor- suggested edition is International – start m. 21 (beginning of solo), stop at downbeat  of m. 86
 
VIOLA - Stamitz Concerto in D major, 1st movement – Suggested edition is International - start m. 48 (solo entrance), stop at m. 95
 
CELLO - FAURE  Elegie, Op. 24  (ASTA Grade 4, International Ed is $9) Faure Elegy for Cello :  m. 2-17, m. 30-45.  (This may seem like a small number of measures, but it is a molto adagio piece, with many of these measures filled with 32nd-note triplets.)

 
BASS - Saint Saens, Elephant Dance

SCALES: are to be performed from memory, played with separate bows, quarter note = 88-92, start and stop on the tonic, no ornamentation, and no repetition of the tonic between octaves. Students will self-select the first scale and judges will assign the second. Scales include major and relative minor up to to four flats and sharps. VLN, VLA, and CEL scale range is three octaves, STB is one octave for C, D, Eb, and two octaves otherwise.



For the audition solo piece, students may use their own fingerings, bowings and edition. There is an orchestral excerpt from the anticipated All-State concert repertoire posted on-line for students to prepare; all markings of the excerpt must be followed.

PLEASE NOTE:     1) All string excerpts are taken from the Joaquin Turina "Danzas Fantasticas"
2) When presented with divisis or double stops, players may play only the top note.
3) In the violin excerpt, 14 measures after rehearsal 7, there is a scribble above the note. This was to remove the previously printed bowing. It is not a fingering.
